Welcome to the Seaweed School & Community Network (SSCN)

We are extremely excited to share that our new website for the Seaweed School and Community Network (SSCN), is now live!

What we do

The SSCN is a project led by Dr. Vicky Dominguez Almela, dedicated to raising awareness about the consequences of seaweed influxes and equipping communities with the tools and knowledge to address this issue. By fostering a collaborative environment, we aim to create a network of informed and proactive individuals committed to making a difference.

 What does our website offer

We have designed our website with some specific features or functions in mind:

  • Showcase the Project: By visiting our website you can learn about the SSCN, its goals, and the progress we’ve made so far. Discover how we’ve engaged 17 schools from four countries across the Atlantic, developed various teaching resources, and conducted workshops to educate and empower communities. Read more.

  • Resource Hub: Access a range of educational materials aimed primarily at children. These resources are integrated into school activities or curricula, to empower younger generations with knowledge about seaweed-related challenges.  More resources will be added soon!

  • Community Feature [coming soon]: Our community area is a unique platform where participating schools can share their experiences with seaweed-related challenges. This social-like feature aims to engage young students, making them feel like active participants in the project. We hope that the opportunity to communicate with their peers will show them that they aren’t facing this challenge alone, and that their contribution could make a difference.

 Join Us

Explore our website, access our resources and join us on our journey.

Together, we can face the challenges posed by seaweed influxes and create an informed and proactive community.

Stay tuned for more updates and feel free to share your experience and ideas with us.

Acknowledgments

The website was co-developed by the SSCN team together with our intern Gloria Notarangelo. We thank SMMI for funding the internship and making this possible.
